Hit the Road Jack...

…and don’t ya come back. Well I will be going back, to the East End that is.

Not so classic first day of school pic in front of the Tower of London!

Today was my first day of classes.  It went pretty well for a first day.  I did absolutely nothing all morning and then to appease my grumbling tummy, I went outside for a free Freshers Week luncheon.  Freshers Week is like Welcome Back Week at SLU.  Except for the fact that the point is for us to make friends and have free drinks.  We can check off that making friends part!  At the luncheon, we sat with a guy from France and a guy from Belgium. So international.

Earlier tonight, I went on a Jack the Ripper Walk in London’s East End. It was great! We rode the tube forever and a year, and when we got off; there was the Tower of London!  This seems to be a common occurrence.  I walk out of the tube station and some amazing historical site pops up right in front of me.  I kinda like it.

Tower of London

Our tour guide for the walk was awesome.  He was a great story teller.  Very suspenseful! We saw most of the locations of the murders and learned all about the suspects.  He also told us a lot of useful information about the East End.  There was a really cool market that we walked through that I definitely will have to return to at some point.  All in all, a great first day of class!
